Retrofit of 1970s Chalet Bungalow
Objective
Deep retrofit of 1970s chalet bungalow with goal of meeting the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard for heating demand, of 25 kWh/(m2.annum)
Services Provided
PHPP energy demand modelling.
Specification of external insulation, triple-glazed windows, solar PV, Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery system and air source heat pump.
Installing ducts and sound baffles for mechanical ventilation system.
Project managed all works.
Outcome
Overheating eliminated.
Energy demand reduced 87%.
Air quality improved – average CO2 levels approx. 500 – 600 ppm.

late 19th century terraced house
Objective
Whole house retrofit plan for late 19th century terraced house in a conservation area.
Services Provided
Retrofit report including condition assessment
Whole House Retrofit Plan, recommending external wall insulation, loft insulation, a heat pump, solar panels and heat recovery ventilation.
Outcome
Client has a plan that fully describes how to make the home warmer and more energy efficient
All but solar panels installed. Achieved reduction in bills by some 64%, home is much warmer, less condensation in bathrooms, lower carbon emissions.

1920s Semi-Detached Bungalow
Objective
Reduce summer overheating in a 1920s semi-detached bungalow, and make it significantly warmer in winter whilst not damaging its mid-period charm.
Achieve ‘LETI’ energy efficiency targets.
Services Provided
Full PHPP thermal analysis.
Whole House Retrofit Plan including external insulation, triple glazing of selected windows, roof insulation, and MVHR heat recovery.
Options development for phased implementation allowing the retrofit to be progressed in stages over time.
Additional advice on materials, options and costs as owner progressed through planning and implementation of recommendations.
Outcome
Client has removed and insulated the roof, with triple glazed and shaded windows upstairs, 4.5 kW of solar PV panels and has installed a heat pump with several improved radiators.
Allows for phased implementation of better windows downstairs and external wall insulation later.
Reduction in bills by 50%, and reduced carbon emissions by 75%. Overheating problem eliminated, home warmer and stable temperature,
